While I was blog hopping around, poking my nose into the private lives of anonymous people and friends. An epiphany hits me:
Why do people leave irritating tags on the tagboards?
Why do people leave irritating tags on the tagboards?
Ok, I have to be honest here, I do leave irritating tags on anonymous blogs as well. But I do it out of boredom and for some delayed comic relief. I always mean no harm in doing so. As well as tagging anonymously, I do at one point of time, flood my friend's tagboard just because I was so damn bored at home.
But (may I stop digressing) why do people leave irresponsible tags on someone else's blog?
I came to a conclusion that when someone leaves an irresponsible comment or tag, they probably just wants attention from either the blog's author, the blog readers or the author's friends.
I, myself was a victim of such childish acts. My tagboard invited a very rude reader that goes by the name "stranger" (He/she is probably just estrange). This tagger, left insulting comments on my tagboard. I ,of course, chose to reply with as much sarcasm as possible without sounding like an Irish brute.
At that point of time, I was thinking "I don't usually get this kind of unnecessary attention, so why not just have fun with this guy" (WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING)
Yea, so I tagged back. "Stranger" replied, hurling useless insults that fall short in front of me. I rebutted with more English sarcasm that he probably will not understand. My friends then joined in the fun, exhausting all their bad grammar and vocabulary at "Stranger".
This went on for about 2 weeks and it suddenly stopped. "Stranger" just stop replying to any tags.
Well,, I guess his he had his fun in my tagboard. I was actually getting quite bored with his senseless arguments and bad language and vocabulary.
The point thtat I am driving here is this: Cheap Thrills or just for plain vendtta.
A blog's main weakness is the tagboard and the comment box. It is vulnerable to, because it is the only element in your blog that allows your reader to directly interact with your blog. Well of course, comment boxes are usually save now since you are able to screen through all the comments before showing them to the public. This mode of interaction is mostly widely used amongst the mega-blogs or blogs that are more famous and widely read.
If you realized, the mega-blogs don't have tagboards. Tagboards are very very very very vulnerable. So far, the more widely used tagboards doesn't have any moderating system before it is shown to the public.. The only thing you can do is to delete it once you see it. By that time, your deepest darkest secret have already been spilled.
Some people tag in tagboards because they know your dark secrets and they just want to spill it out for everyone to know. You can say your tabgboard is a coming out parade by itself but a parade you don't really want. It almost like why the local government don't want a Sydney-styled Mardi Gras to be held in the open streets of Orchard Road.
I myself, will stop using tagboards, not because my blog is turning into a mega-blog (Apparently, it is far away from being mega), my tagboard goes into comatose quite oftenly. My tagboard can go with a single friggin tag for 1 month. And it is soon becoming an eye sore as well.
Anyway, I'm going to end off here
